National Adoption Day

Today, is National Adoption Day.  I read somewhere that over 4,000 foster children were adopted last year the weekend before Thanksgiving!  I'm not sure where I read it so, if anyone wants to fact check me. You're welcome to bring it on! Hehe.

In the 1970s, certain states began allowing adoptees to search for their birth parents, if they chose to do so.  This is when states began to reform laws, but we still had a long way to go. Unfortunately, some biological parents did not want to be found. These were called closed adoptions.  We've come along way since then, in 2000. The first National Adoption Day was celebrated.

This definitely hits home for me personally. My mother was adopted. I know how hard it was for her when I was growing up. We would talk about heritage in school and family trees. My naive child mind would ask, and she would do her best to explain. Needless to say her adopted mom was still like a biological mom to her. Luckily, she was adopted as a baby!

Unfortunately, this is not the case for most foster kids. They are in and out of the system for years, and they may never have the opportunity to find their forever home.

I have so many friends who were adopted. These people who have been adopted have special hearts.  They love openly, because they were given a chance at unconditional love.  Something we all deserve!

World Kindness Day!

This one hits home for sure. It's the golden rule!
Treat others how you would like to be treated! It is a really simple concept!

I'm happy there is a day for this, but I'm also sad that there has to be a day for this! We should be kind every day, and I understand every one has their good days and bad days The universe gives you what you put out!  Cosmically speaking, it's called karma!
So things you can do to celebrate World Kindness Day or to be kind any day of the year:

  1. Give a random compliment to a stranger.
  2. Hold the door open. In the south, this happens for us women all the time, but it's nice to reciprocate the gesture. I especially like to hold the door open for the delivery drivers loading up products on those heavy dollies.
  3. Help an elderly or pregnant woman load up all those heavy groceries. Side note: (I had this one done to me personally by another young lady, and she was so happy to help! She said she wished more people would have offered her help when she was pregnant trying to load up heavy grocery bags.)
  4. Pay for a random strangers order in the drive thru. This has also happened to me at Chick Filet. I was so grateful, and when I could return the favor I did!
  5.  Send a random thank you note! Sometimes some one impacts your life, and they don't even realize it! Share that with them. I promise you'll make their day!
So, whatever you decide to do for World Kindness Day, remember to try to be kind every day. You never know what a random stranger is going through. We all have our own unique stories. So, be kind, be respectful, and share the love.

One last thought: You get what you give!

I'm a firm believer in the universe puts out what you give and that why it's called the present.  If you mope around saying everything sucks. It's going to suck and be lame! So...suck it up butter cup things are going to get better, as long as, you put a smile on your face and radiate positive energy eventually the universe will find a way to balance it all back out!

Little boys are made of...

Picture
Well, the old nursery rhyme goes... "Little boys are made of snips and snails and puppy dogs tails."

As a mom of 2 very different little boys, this rings so true now more than it did before motherhood.  They both love digging in the dirt, learning about critters, and playing with the family dog!

They are day and night!  One is very outspoken, while the other is reserved.  They are both very silly in their own different ways!  They bicker just like any other siblings, but they always hug and make up!

These 2 little people are my why. Why I keep going every day! Why I strive to always be my best. Some days are better than others...lol

Happy National Sons' Day! We love y'all to the moon and beyond!
