So now we're in the home stretch of 2020! I really didn't realize how much i loved baseball references until recently with my blogging. Lol, I suppose it reminds me of my late father. He was truly one in a million! First off, I'm a mom of 2 boys. They are like night and day! They are my world, and my why! Keeping two boys home in the middle of a pandemic has presented challenges, but nothing we can't overcome. That's life throwing you curve balls! There I go with the baseball references again... I've had to learn to be a home school mom, which technically my oldest is still enrolled, and I thank the stars every day he has amazing online teachers! Then there is my toddler, we'll just leave it at that! Any parent knows that is one tough stage, and I'm lucky enough I'm even able to get any work done at all! With experience comes new sets of skills, so unless you've read my entire website, which I'm sure 90% of you have not, and I assure you that's totally fine! I finally went completely legit this year. For the past 5 years prior, I was freelancing. So, this year I got my LLC (Legal Liability Companies), applied for a DBA (Doing Business As), & began to work, work, work, work, work! With so many projects in the works, I'm only going to talk about the few that I have up and running at the moment. Obviously, I'm still in the digital marketing world! My pet project this year has been my promotional marketing company, and we are not limited to just Mississippi. I was already doing digital marketing. I have worked for several Mom and Pop type companies; these have always been my favorite jobs. I have never been one to jump on the "corporate bandwagon," Though, I am constantly adding more to my resume'. So about 10 years ago, I was working for a local mom and pop shop. Business was not on the up and up. The internet was changing everything! I loved my job, but mourned the fact that it was not going to last forever! I was in school at the time. I worked at a local record shop. My nerdy but petty music trivia was barely paying the bills. I ended up leaving the record store, floated to other jobs, and decided enough was enough! It broke my heart to see all of the businesses having to close their doors! I thought to myself, selfishly, this is not fair!!! Then, I hear my mom, "life isn't fair." I began to search how could I find a way to help. There is so much information, misinformation, random facts, anything you want on the internet. I learned how to create a website. I slowly added more and more to my tool belt. I made it my personal mission to help local businesses! I still feel to this day, if I would have had the skills and tools I know now. Maybe, I could have saved that shop. I know, it's a naive thought, but I wish I could have at least been able to try! So, now I am here helping local business owners with their digital assets or digital footprint! |
